Prayer at Kamakhya Temple for Hindus’ Safety in Bangladesh

Special prayers and a ‘yajna’ were performed at Guwahati’s Kamakhya temple for the peace and safety of the Hindu community in Bangladesh. Shankaracharya Govardhan Peeth Swami Adhokshjanand Devtirth led the rituals, calling for security for Hindus in Bangladesh after recent targeted attacks on the community. The prayers were held at Namat Kali Mandir to remember the victims and survivors of the violence.

The Shankaracharya commended Bangladesh’s interim government chief adviser for visiting the Dhakeswari temple and urged the authorities to protect Hindus, ensure rehabilitation, rebuild damaged places of worship, and bring perpetrators to justice. Reports of targeted attacks on minorities in Bangladesh have raised concerns, echoed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Independence Day.
