Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton is taking a stand against the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and the Justice Department for their protections for transgender individuals in the workplace. Paxton filed a lawsuit arguing that guidelines preventing harassment, such as allowing bathroom use based on gender identity and using correct pronouns, are unlawful. He believes these guidelines infringe on the state’s sovereign power to set workplace policies.
Paxton, known for his numerous lawsuits against the Biden administration, including those on illegal immigration and government censorship, is determined to fight this latest battle. Rejecting his first lawsuit, a district judge called for a new complaint, which Paxton promptly filed.
In a statement, Paxton expressed his opposition to what he sees as attempts to rewrite federal law through illegal agency action. He believes the EEOC is being used to force private businesses and states to comply with transgender mandates. The lawsuit, supported by the Heritage Foundation, seeks to halt these actions by the Biden-Harris Administration.
