NSIA starts building cancer center in Bauchi.

The Nigeria Sovereign Investment Authority (NSIA) has commenced the construction of Oncology and Diagnostic Centers at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital (ATBUTH) in Bauchi. The project, led by NSIA’s special-purpose vehicle, MedServe, aims to cater to over 350,000 patients and enhance healthcare delivery in Nigeria.

Recognizing the importance of healthcare in national development, NSIA’s Managing Director, Aminu Umar-Sadiq, highlighted the goal of MedServe to optimize healthcare outcomes for all Nigerians. The expansion project will include 23 diagnostic centers, three oncology centers, and seven catheterization laboratories across the country.

The centers are expected to significantly reduce the burden of cancer and improve preventive care through diagnostics, thereby reducing the need for medical tourism. The initiative aligns with efforts to achieve universal health coverage and boost the nation’s healthcare infrastructure.

Government officials, including the Coordinating Minister of Health and Bauchi State Governor, have commended the project for its potential to transform healthcare in the region and build a healthier nation for productivity.
