Gauteng’s provincial government has signed MOU agreements with private healthcare providers, focusing on orthopaedics and trauma care. Plans are underway to transform local hostels into family units and improve living conditions in informal settlements, starting with Makausi in Germiston and Alexandra township in Johannesburg. The government is also prioritizing food security, urban hunger eradication, and food production to address child stunting and promote wellness.
The department of agriculture will identify farm areas, establish a state farm, and create markets for small-scale farmers. Over R427 million has been allocated to fight substance abuse, with a billion rand earmarked for the next few years. The government is committed to providing assistance to individuals with substance use disorder.
