Israel constantly uses contradictory, baseless, and demonstrably false accusations against not only journalists but medical workers, emergency crews, aid workers, and teachers.
Israel’s use of false accusations to justify the murder of innocent civilians, including journalists, has been exposed by the recent assassination of journalist Ismail al-Ghoul in Gaza. The Israeli authorities falsely accused al-Ghoul of being linked to Hamas, triggering outrage from journalist protection groups.
This incident sheds light on a pattern of fabrication by Israel to cover up war crimes, including the killing of medic Razan al-Najjar during the Great Return March in 2018. Despite evidence refuting Israeli claims, the smearing of innocent civilians continues.
Journalists working for outlets deemed affiliated with Hamas are seen as legitimate targets by Israeli forces, leading to the tragic deaths of media professionals like Ismail al-Ghoul and Abdallah Aljamal. The continued use of baseless accusations only serves to perpetuate violence and injustice in the region.
