The Israeli government has “approved strategic land seizures — almost 6,000 acres this year alone — and major settlement construction”.
Israel is actively redrawing the map of the West Bank by seizing Palestinian lands, expanding settlements, and demolishing villages and towns, as revealed in an investigation by the Washington Post.
These actions aim at fragmenting the territory, representing significant territorial changes in decades with the goal of thwarting the creation of a Palestinian state.
The expansion effort in the West Bank is fueled by Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich, who openly aims to prevent the establishment of a Palestinian state by settling the land.
Despite international calls for a two-state solution, the aggressive expansion of Israeli settlements makes this solution increasingly unfeasible, leading to mass displacements and violence in Palestinian communities.
The situation in the West Bank continues to escalate, with demolitions, land seizures, and settler violence exacerbating tensions between Israelis and Palestinians.
