Zuma, MK Party vs SABC case: Judgment reserved

The Gauteng High Court in Johannesburg reserves judgment in Jacob Zuma, MK Party, and SABC case

The Gauteng High Court in Johannesburg has reserved judgment in the case involving Jacob Zuma, the MK Party, and the SABC. Zuma and the MK Party seek a ruling from the court deeming the use of the term “government of national unity” (GNU) by the SABC as unconstitutional.

Despite the SABC’s argument that they did not invent the term GNU but used it as referred by the ANC, Zuma and the MK Party continue to press their case. The court postponed the proceedings after the SABC submitted their papers late, giving Zuma and the MK Party minimal time to respond before the scheduled hearing.

In their court papers, the MK Party criticized the ANC’s approach to the GNU, calling it inaccurate and politically bankrupt. Meanwhile, the SABC’s CEO maintained that the broadcaster reported on the term GNU as used by the ANC.
