The creation of an “inter-Korean working group” could pave the way for improved relations, addressing various issues from economic collaboration to family reunions. Yoon emphasized the significance of dialogue and cooperation in transforming inter-Korean dynamics.
While facing criticism over his administration’s policies, Yoon also proposed initiatives to promote human rights in North Korea and enhance access to external information. This speech marks a shift in focus from Japan towards North Korea for Yoon, amidst strained relations with Tokyo.
Despite challenges, Yoon’s office remains hopeful for progress, emphasizing the importance of building towards North Korean unification and regional stability.
