War Films from BiH, Palestine, Ukraine at SFF

The 30th Sarajevo Film Festival (SFF) will showcase over ten films focusing on the war in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), Gaza, Ukraine, and other countries. One of the highlights includes a documentary by the Balkan Investigative Reporting Network of BiH (BIRN BiH) about a rock band from Srebrenica torn apart by war and genocide.

Despite nearly three decades passing since the war, films depicting the atrocities of the 1990s remain central to the festival. The “Dealing with the Past” category will feature films highlighting crimes in Strpci and Srebrenica, while the “BH Film” category will include a piece about children killed during the Sarajevo siege.

Notable films like “Sniper Alley – To My Brother” and “Samir Mehic Bowie – Letters from Srebrenica” add emotional depth to the festival, capturing the essence of loss and resilience in war-torn regions. Additionally, productions like “Life is Beautiful” shed light on personal struggles, while “Dad’s Lullaby” offers a unique perspective on post-war relationships in Ukraine.

The festival promises a thought-provoking and emotionally compelling lineup, inviting audiences to reflect on the enduring impact of war on individuals and communities worldwide.
