Kamala Harris’ campaign has put an end to the debate over debates by confirming that she and Tim Walz will participate in three debates this fall. Harris will face off against Donald Trump twice, while Walz will take on JD Vance in a single debate aired by CBS News on Oct. 1.
This announcement comes after speculation and challenges from Vance for additional debates which was unprecedented in U.S. politics. Harris’ confirmation of a second debate with Trump, after their initial showdown on Sept. 10, has set the stage for important political discussions to come in October.
Prior to this confirmation, proposed debates between Harris and Trump by Fox News and NBC News on different dates were also in the mix. Now, networks are expected to vie for the final Trump-Harris debate in October.
This continuation of debates is reminiscent of the initial agreement between Trump and Joe Biden for a series of debates leading up to Election Day. Despite initial reluctance from Trump, he eventually agreed to face Harris multiple times.
