Syria holds Israeli occupation responsible for heinous crime in Majdal Shams
The Permanent Delegation of the Syrian Arab Republic in New York recently sent two letters to the UN Secretary-General and the President of the Security Council, holding the Israeli occupation responsible for a heinous crime in the town of Majdal Shams in the occupied Syrian Golan. The crime, which occurred on July 27th, 2024, was seen as part of the occupation’s efforts to escalate tensions in the region.
Syria reiterated that the Syrian Golan is an integral part of its territory, and the residents in the area are Syrian Arab citizens who reject the Israeli occupation. The delegation urged the UN and the Security Council to implement resolutions, such as Resolution No. 497 of 1981, to end the occupation of the Syrian Golan and ensure international peace and security.
The letters emphasized the importance of ending the Israeli occupation’s criminal practices and allowing the Syrian people in the Golan to live in peace and security within their homeland.
