Russian ambassador calls Ukrainian gains ‘gang raids’

Russia’s ambassador to Ireland dismissed Ukraine’s recent offensive as a propaganda stunt during an interview with Prime Time. Yury Filatov described the incursion into the Kursk region as a gang-type raid aimed at intimidating civilians and drawing attention to Ukraine’s need for military support. Ambassador Filatov also addressed comments made by An Taoiseach Simon Harris regarding the forced displacement of Ukrainian children into Russia, emphasizing the need to provide a safe haven for them.

Furthermore, Ambassador Filatov responded to claims made by Assistant Commissioner Michael McElgunn about Russian spies operating in Ireland, suggesting that such allegations were meant to divert attention from more pressing issues within law enforcement. The ongoing tensions between Russia and Ukraine have raised concerns about espionage activities, with both sides closely monitoring potential threats.

Despite the diplomatic disputes and accusations, Ambassador Filatov remained composed, dismissing the allegations as insulting and emphasizing the need for a more diplomatic approach to resolving conflicts between nations.
