Controversial Iranian Official Linked to Nuclear Program Denies Ties to IRGC
Abdolrasool Divsallar, a senior Iranian official at the UN specializing in “weapons of mass destruction-free zone,” has been accused of advising Iran’s nuclear weapons program. However, Divsallar denies any ties to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) or Tehran’s nuclear activities.
Despite his denial, Divsallar’s resume reveals connections to the IRGC, and he has held positions in institutions involved in the nuclear program sanctioned by the US. In an interview, he praised IRGC commanders, raising concerns about his affiliations.
Divsallar also taught at a sanctioned Iranian university and was promoted within the IRGC’s Passive Defense Organization. His advocacy for Iran has led him to call for easing sanctions on the country, sparking controversy.
Despite the allegations, Divsallar maintains his expertise in disarmament and denies involvement with the IRGC. The situation remains contentious as his past experiences are called into question.
