Prime Minister Petteri Orpo of Finland has emphasized the importance of supporting Ukraine as a shared business opportunity. Finland has significantly increased its production of ammunition to aid Ukraine in its fight against Russia. This decision was made in collaboration with Estonia, both nations agreeing that Russia must not win its war.
Finland has boosted its ammunition production by five times, with plans to further expand its weapons industry and double its ammo manufacturing capacity by 2027. The Defense Ministry announced an investment of €120 million for this purpose, with a portion of the funding coming from the EU’s ASAP fund.
The increased production is focused on artillery munitions and gunpowder manufacturing at the Nammo Lapua plant. Additionally, there are discussions about constructing a new factory for military-grade explosives. Both Prime Ministers expressed solidarity with Ukraine’s defense efforts, and Finland’s decision to join NATO last year further solidifies its stance against Russian aggression.
