UNMISS is advocating for a harmonious relationship between the Tumaini Initiative and the Revitalized Peace Agreement to drive consensus among stakeholders. The mission continues to support preparations for future elections, amidst ongoing subnational violence in various regions of South Sudan.
Charles Tai Gituai emphasized the slow pace of the peace agreement’s implementation, citing political will, trust issues, and capacity gaps as obstacles. Despite challenges, he acknowledged the agreement’s positive impact on peace and governance in South Sudan.
