Climate Activists Halt Traffic at Four German Airports: Media

Letzte Generation, an activist group, staged protests at airports across Germany demanding a global exit from using oil, gas, and coal by 2030. Eight protesters disrupted flights at Cologne Bonn and Nuremberg airports by entering the taxiways and sticking themselves to the ground with banners reading “Oil kills.” The group’s actions aimed to pressure the German government to take action on climate change.

The protests caused flights to be disrupted for about two hours, with police removing the activists from the runways at Berlin and Stuttgart airports without affecting air operations. All eight activists were arrested by the police, with Interior Minister Nancy Faeser condemning the actions as dangerous and stupid.

Letzte Generation is known for its eye-catching protests, including gluing themselves to busy roads and halting traffic at airports. The group’s actions are part of a larger movement to raise awareness about climate change and prompt governments to take immediate action.
