BJP’s Suvendu seeks CAPF security at RG Kar Medical College

Amid ongoing protests against the rape and murder of a doctor, Leader of the opposition Suvendu Adhikari of the BJP has written to the Centre, requesting security by paramilitary forces at the state-run RG Kar Medical College and Hospitals in Kolkata. The hospital was vandalized, prompting Adhikari to allege police incompetence in providing protection.

He expressed concerns about the pre-planned nature of the vandalism and accused Kolkata Police of colluding with rioters. Adhikari urged the deployment of Central Armed Paramilitary Forces to safeguard evidence for a CBI investigation.

While TMC claimed the vandalism was a BJP and CPI(M) conspiracy, Adhikari criticized the police’s handling of the situation. A mob entered the hospital, ransacking various areas and disrupting protests by junior doctors. The body of the postgraduate trainee doctor was later found, allegedly raped and murdered.

Despite the ongoing investigation, political tensions are high, with both parties trading accusations regarding the incident.
