The only thing we ask is that everything is resolved in a peaceful manner, AMLO said

Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador (AMLO) stated that he does not support Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva’s proposal for Venezuela to hold new elections to resolve the current crisis.

AMLO emphasized the need for Venezuelans to resolve their issues internally and for the courts to decide on the matter. He also mentioned that Mexico’s Constitution prohibits interference in other countries’ affairs.

Despite Lula’s comments on working with Brazil, Mexico, and Colombia to find solutions, AMLO clarified that he had not spoken with Lula after their initial meeting on August 1st.

Mexico’s Foreign Minister, Alicia Bárcena, has discussed the Venezuelan crisis with US Secretary of State Antony Blinken, reiterating Mexico’s stance on waiting for the outcome of the process before the Supreme Court of Venezuela.
