US Supports Israel with $20 Billion Arms Deal Amid Rising Regional Tensions
A recent report by Axios revealed that the US has approved a significant arms deal with Israel, valued at over $20 billion. The package includes new F-15 fighter jets, tank and mortar shells, and other military equipment. These sales, although scheduled for delivery in the future, aim to deter threats from Iran and Hezbollah according to Israeli officials. Notably, the centerpiece of the deal is the sale of 50 F-15IA fighter jets and upgrades to existing jets, totaling $18.8 billion.
Despite international concerns over human rights violations, the flow of US weapons to Israel continues unabated, further fueling conflict in the region. With ongoing conflicts in Gaza, the repercussions of such arms deals are dire, leading to widespread casualties and displacement among Palestinians.
