South Sudan is mourning the loss of Lt. Gen. Bior Ajang Duot, a revered leader and former Deputy Chief of Staff for Operations of the South Sudan People’s Defense Forces (SSPDF). Ambassador John Samuel Bwogo confirmed the passing of Gen. Bior due to cardiac arrest on 13 August 2024 in Juba.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation expressed deep sorrow over Gen. Bior’s untimely death, extending condolences to his family, relatives, and friends. Born in Kongor, Twic East County in Jonglei State, Gen. Bior played a significant role in South Sudan’s struggle for independence.
Transitioning from the Ministry of Defense and Veterans Affairs to become a First Class Ambassador in 2015, Gen. Bior’s legacy goes beyond official roles. As chairperson of the Twic East Community Association, he remained committed to his community and country.
Gen. Bior’s passing signifies the end of an era for those who admired his leadership and dedication to South Sudan’s sovereignty and development. His resilience and advocacy for progress will be remembered by all who knew him.
