Miscreants vandalize property, pelt stones at police at Kolkata’s RG Kar hospital.

In a shocking turn of events, unidentified miscreants vandalized parts of the state-run RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, where a woman doctor’s body was found last week. The incident occurred during midnight protests by women against the heinous rape-murder of the doctor at the same hospital. Disguised as protestors, the group entered the premises, damaged property, and threw stones at police officers, resulting in injuries.

In response, the Kolkata Police have increased security outside the hospital and are closely monitoring the situation. This comes as part of the ‘Reclaim the Night’ movement, with protests starting at midnight and spreading across various cities, including Kolkata, to demand justice for the victim.

The body of the postgraduate trainee was discovered in a seminar hall on August 9, and a civic volunteer has been arrested in connection with the crime. Following the Calcutta High Court’s directive, the investigation has been transferred from the Kolkata Police to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
