The Lagos State Government has kickstarted the distribution of 20,000 bags of food items to religious bodies in the state to alleviate the prevailing hardship. Following recent protests over economic challenges, the Ministry of Home Affairs is overseeing the distribution process as part of the state’s commitment to provide palliative measures.
Each bag consists of 10kg of rice, 5kg of beans, and 5kg of Garri, with 10,000 bags allocated to Muslim communities and the other 10,000 to Christian organizations. Special Advisers to the Governor, Abdullahi Jebe and Adebukola Adeleke, highlighted the significance of this initiative in supporting different religious circles across Lagos.
The Permanent Secretary, Adewunmi Ogunsanya, praised the governor’s efforts to assist the less privileged in society through these palliatives. The distribution is being methodically organized, with 3,000 bags being disbursed daily to ensure a widespread impact on various Islamic and Christian groups in the region.
