An additional district judge in Hyderabad sentenced an accused in a blasphemy case to 25 years of rigorous imprisonment after a trial conducted inside the Hyderabad central jail. The judge convicted the accused under Section 265-H (2) of Cr.PC and imposed a fine of Rs500,000. If the penalty is not paid, the convict will serve an additional three months in prison.
The judge considered mitigating circumstances and decided against issuing a death sentence due to a lack of concrete proof. The accused will benefit from Section 382-B of CrPC. The case against the accused was filed by Mehboob Ali at Mirpur Sakro police station, Thatta, under Section 295-C PPC. Ali and other witnesses claimed the accused declared himself a prophet at a bus stop in Buhara town on April 1, 2018.
This case serves as a reminder of the importance of respecting religious sentiments and the consequences of violating laws related to blasphemy.
