Gaza Ceasefire Talks Update: Hamas to Refrain from Participating

In a recent development, the American “CBS” channel reported that Hamas, as confirmed by their representative in Lebanon, will not be participating in the scheduled ceasefire talks for Gaza on Thursday. Ahmed Abdel Hadi stated that Hamas has not received assurances from Israel regarding negotiations based on a previous proposal from July 2.

Abdel Hadi expressed Hamas’ willingness to negotiate but highlighted that Israel had rejected the July 2 proposal, imposed new conditions, and carried out the assassination of Ismail Haniyeh, the Head of the Hamas political bureau. Due to these reasons, Hamas will not be attending the talks on August 15 and will revert to the initial starting point.

However, Hamas remains open to meeting with mediators after the scheduled talks on Thursday in Qatar if Israel provides a “serious response.” Abdel Hadi emphasized the need to reach an agreement to halt the violence and suffering faced by the Palestinian people.

Stay tuned for further developments as the situation unfolds.
