An unidentified assailant targeted the parked vehicle of Dr. Samreen Hussain, Vice Chancellor of Dawood University of Engineering and Technology (DUET) in Orangi Town, Karachi. Fortunately, Dr. Hussain was not in the vehicle at the time of the attack and remained unharmed.
According to SSP-West Dr. Hafeezur Rehman Bugti, the incident occurred while Dr. Hussain was attending an Independence Day event at Government Degree College. An armed man approached her Toyota Fortuner parked in the college’s lot and fired three shots before fleeing the scene.
The police are currently investigating the motive behind the attack, ruling out robbery as a possible cause. Dr. Hussain’s statement will be crucial in shedding light on the circumstances surrounding the incident. Safety measures are being reviewed to ensure the protection of academic staff in light of this alarming event.
