First-ever Ukrainian TV report from Sudzha in Kursk Oblast with video shown

The Ukrainian TSN news program recently reported on Ukrainian soldiers removing the Russian flag in the town of Sudzha in Russia’s Kursk Oblast. This marks the first time Kyiv has ventured into embattled Russian territory, surprising Moscow with the extent of their operation. Nataliia Nahorna, a war reporter for Ukraine’s united news program, filmed soldiers taking down the Russian flag, symbolizing a significant moment in the conflict.

The incursion, which has seen Ukraine gain control of numerous settlements and land, aims to disrupt Russian reinforcements in Donetsk Oblast and hinder cross-border attacks. Despite unofficial restrictions from Western partners, Ukraine continues to strike with long-range weapons. The Wall Street Journal reported that Moscow is withdrawing forces from Ukraine in response to the incursion in Kursk Oblast.

The move into Russia’s territory is not only a strategic military operation but also a political challenge to President Putin’s authority. This unexpected move by Ukraine poses a significant test to Putin’s control over power in the region.
