Exhibition on ‘Horrors of Partition of India’ at Indian embassy in Armenia

India is marking the tragic partition of the country in 1947 by commemorating the more than 1 million Indians who lost their lives in the event. An exhibition titled “Horrors of Partition of India” was held at the Embassy of India in Armenia to showcase the path of India’s independence.

The partition of India in 1947 was one of the most painful events in human history, as the country was artificially divided into India and Pakistan, with Pakistan further divided into East and West. Indian ambassador Nilakshi Saha Sinha described it as an unforeseen crime that preceded India’s independence.

The Indian government has decided to make this commemoration an annual event, with the exhibition and photos portraying the struggle for independence similar to other historical tragedies like the Holocaust and the Armenian Genocide. This is the second year India is holding commemorative events in all the countries where it has embassies, shedding light on the path to independence.
