Delhi Lieutenant Governor Seeks Details of MLA Local Area Development Fund Scheme
New Delhi: The Delhi Lieutenant Governor (L-G) Secretariat has requested details of the MLA Local Area Development (LAD) Fund scheme from the Delhi government’s urban development department following a complaint from the Congress. The request includes information on expenditure under the scheme over the last two years.
The ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) accused the L-G office of obstructive tactics that hinder the city’s development by probing MLALAD funds. The AICC secretary’s complaint highlighted the non-utilization of funds for sewage and water projects, leading to civic issues.
The L-G Secretariat demanded comprehensive information on the scheme’s objectives, criteria, and previous utilization. This includes a list of works executed, monitoring mechanisms, and details of civic projects funded. The AAP claimed the L-G office obstructed over Rs 4,000 crore allocated to the Delhi Jal Board, affecting sewerline and water projects.
Dutt, in response to the L-G’s actions, expressed gratitude and expressed hope for transparency in the matter. While inquiries are welcome, the AAP emphasized the need to ensure ongoing projects aren’t affected.
