Former information minister Muhammad Ali Durrani has surprised many by launching efforts to unite opposition parties with the one-point agenda of securing Imran Khan’s release from prison. Despite his close ties to the establishment as a former minister under Pervez Musharraf, Durrani aims to play a facilitator role in saving the country from crisis.
Hosting a dinner in Islamabad, Durrani gathered key political figures from opposition parties, including PTI leaders Asad Qaiser, Omar Ayub, and JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman. The attendees agreed to work towards releasing political prisoners and upholding the Constitution and rule of law.
PTI leader Asad Qaiser emphasized the need for unity among opposition parties to address the country’s challenges. He stated the importance of Imran Khan’s release and running the country according to the Constitution and rule of law.
Despite criticisms of being an establishment figure, Durrani’s initiative reflects a genuine desire to address national issues and promote justice and rule of law in the country.
