An NGO, AIDS Healthcare Foundation (AHF), has reached a significant milestone by providing in-care HIV/AIDS services support to over two million individuals globally, as announced by Dr. Echey Ijezie, Nigeria’s Country Director. This achievement comes after over 20 years of operation in 47 countries.
Starting with just 100 patients in South Africa and Uganda, AHF has grown to serve 2 million lives worldwide. The cost of ARVs per patient annually has decreased significantly since its inception. In Nigeria alone, AHF currently has 29,000 individuals in care in various states across the country.
Through a combination of medicine, advocacy, and collaboration with governments and international donors, AHF continues to expand its reach and impact by providing comprehensive medical care, treatment, testing, prevention, and support services in communities.
The commitment of AHF to advocating for access to HIV treatment and care aligns with the government’s efforts to improve health outcomes. The partnership between AHF and government agencies reflects a robust approach to reaching and supporting those affected by the virus.
