The Arewa Consultative Forum has spoken out against the recent violent #EndBadGovernanceinNigeria protests that led to destruction and chaos. The forum expressed sadness over the loss of lives and damage to property during the protests held in various parts of the country.
ACF condemned the protesters’ actions as “inexcusable and unequivocally condemnable,” stating that they went beyond acceptable limits and contradicted the reasons for the protests. The forum had previously warned against the potential breakdown of law and order due to the planned 10-day national protest in August 2024.
Highlighting widespread discontent, frustration, and disillusionment with the government’s policies, ACF called for immediate consultations between governments and citizens to address grievances. They advocated for accountability, anti-corruption measures, and increased public policy engagement to improve governance.
Offering condolences to the affected families, the ACF urged Nigerians to work together towards a better future and avoid further violence and destruction in the pursuit of positive change.
