US approves bn arms sales to Israel in War on Gaza

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken recently approved a new arms sale to Israel worth over $20 billion in military equipment, as confirmed by the Pentagon. The approval includes F-15 jets, tank cartridges, and army vehicles to enhance Israel’s self-defense capability.

Despite criticisms, the Biden administration continues to authorize arms transfers to Israel during the conflict in Gaza. The International Criminal Court is seeking arrest warrants for Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defence Minister Yoav Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity.

Meanwhile, Israel’s arms exports hit a record high in 2023, totaling $13.1 billion. Major sales included missiles, rockets, and air-defense systems, with Germany signing a deal for the Arrow 3 long-range defense system. Israeli Defence Minister Gallant emphasized the focus on defense but highlighted the pursuit of international partnerships.
