US approves B arms sales to Israel amid Middle East threat

The U.S. has approved a massive $20 billion arms sale to Israel, including fighter jets and advanced missiles, amidst rising tensions in the region. The sale, which includes over 50 F-15 fighter jets and Advanced Medium Range Air-to-Air Missiles, is aimed at enhancing Israel’s long-term military capabilities.

While the delivery of these weapons will take years, the U.S. remains committed to Israel’s security and self-defense capabilities. The Biden administration has faced pressure to reconsider its military support for Israel following civilian casualties in Gaza, but the sale aligns with the U.S.’ objective to support Israel’s defense needs.

The contracts include not only the production of 50 new Boeing aircraft but also upgrade kits for existing F-15 jets. These upgrades, which include new engines and radars, will enhance Israel’s air force capabilities. The first deliveries are expected in 2029, solidifying the long-term partnership between the two nations.
