Ukraine’s Energy Ministry recently revealed a major corruption scandal involving a deputy energy minister who was arrested for accepting a $500,000 bribe. The ministry, led by Minister Herman Halushchenko, has taken swift action by requesting the official’s dismissal and initiating investigations. The ministry emphasized its commitment to eliminating corruption in the energy industry and is working closely with law enforcement agencies for this purpose.
The National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU) also shared details of the case, stating that the deputy minister and three accomplices sought bribes in exchange for facilitating the transfer of valuable coal mining equipment between state-owned enterprises. The culprits were caught in the act and are facing charges under Ukrainian law. Following these developments, the Cabinet of Ministers dismissed the deputy energy minister from his position.
