An unfortunate incident unfolded in Cairns, Australia, when an amateur pilot crashed a helicopter into the roof of a hotel after celebrating with colleagues. The pilot, who had gained unauthorized access to the helicopter belonging to luxury charter company Nautilus Aviation, tragically lost his life in the crash. Two hotel guests sustained minor injuries as a result of the explosion caused by the crash.
Prior to the crash, the pilot had been celebrating at a send-off event before taking on a new role within the company. Despite being licensed to fly helicopters in New Zealand, he had no prior flying experience in Australia. Mangled pieces of the helicopter were found in the hotel’s pool, while a fiery blaze erupted on the roof.
