The Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE), Victoria Island branch, has taken a proactive step towards addressing building collapse issues in Lagos State. The association recently submitted a comprehensive report to the state government outlining solutions to prevent such incidents.
Chairman Aji Agbu Ezekiel shared this development during a press briefing on the upcoming 2024 Engineering Week in Lagos. The NSE also presented a detailed Lagos State infrastructure scorecard highlighting achievements, ongoing projects, and areas for improvement.
The Engineering Week, scheduled for August 19-23, 2024, will focus on the theme “Innovative leadership: Shaping the future of Engineering.” The event will feature guest speaker Charles Adams from the Ghana Institute of Engineering and Chairman of the occasion Margaret Aina Oguntala, the NSE President.
In addition to the main event, the NSE plans to visit engineering firms, conduct training programs, and hold an annual general meeting with new member inductions. The chairman emphasized the branch’s commitment to community engagement, citing initiatives like fire safety campaigns and collaboration with government agencies to address various challenges.
