No additional taxes on electric bills, confirms Nasir Shah

Sindh Energy Minister Syed Nasir Hussain Shah has taken a stand against the imposition of new taxes on electricity bills by the federal government. In a meeting, he expressed the provincial government’s decision to engage with the centre to address this issue.

Shah emphasized the need to exempt electricity bills from all forms of taxes and urged for alternative measures if taxes are deemed necessary. He also urged the CEO of K-Electric to refrain from adding taxes to electricity bills.

Under the direction of PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto, the Sindh government is committed to providing relief to the public in terms of electricity charges. Additionally, Sindh Governor Kamran Tesori recently announced a plan to distribute free solar panels to residents using up to 300 units of electricity in the province.

This initiative aims to provide sustainable energy solutions and alleviate the burden of load shedding for households. With 9,000 solar panels ordered for the first phase, the distribution and installation will be carried out at no cost to the recipients.
