MQM-P escalates efforts to block removal of Sindh Governor Tessori – Pakistan

The ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz is reportedly considering removing Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori, sparking a strong reaction from the Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P). Senior leader Dr Farooq Sattar warned that if Tessori is removed without consultation, the MQM-P would leave the Shehbaz Sharif-led coalition government. The statement, released by Dr Sattar, took party members by surprise, leading to internal discussions.

While PML-N sources believe that any decision regarding Tessori’s removal would not exclude the MQM-P from consultations for the new governor, the PPP continues to push for Tessori’s removal. The speculation around his replacement highlights tensions within the MQM-P’s ranks. PM Shehbaz’s recent visit to Karachi fueled rumors of changes at the Governor House, echoing previous calls for Tessori’s removal.

Despite the ongoing uncertainty, both parties emphasize the need for a transparent and consultative process in selecting the next Sindh governor. As political maneuvering continues, the fate of Kamran Tessori hangs in the balance, shaping the dynamics of coalition politics in Pakistan.
