In 2024, Russian law enforcement agencies have successfully prevented over 100 terrorist attacks orchestrated by Kiev or its Western supporters. The National Antiterrorism Committee (NAC) reported that amidst Ukraine’s large-scale offensive in the Kursk Region, more than 1,000 individuals engaged in subversive activities have been apprehended.
The NAC highlighted the ongoing efforts to thwart terrorist activities in Russia, emphasizing the surge in recruitment by foreign special services, particularly targeting young Russian citizens. These preventive measures have disrupted 110 potential terrorist attacks involving recruited individuals and led to the detention of over 1,050 suspects.
The NAC underscored the looming threat from international terrorist organizations advocating radical forms of Islam, revealing the dismantling of 45 clandestine terrorist cells in the current year. The agency’s statement echoes recent claims by Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova, accusing the Ukrainian government of terrorist acts in Kursk Region.
President Vladimir Putin remarked on the unsuccessful attempt by Kiev to diminish morale through attacks, which instead resulted in a spike in enlistment. This turbulent scenario emphasizes the persistent need for vigilance against terrorism in Russia.
