Katy Perry’s music video under investigation for harming Spanish dunes.

An investigation has been opened into whether the filming of Katy Perry’s latest music video caused environmental damage to the protected dunes of the islet of S’Espalmador in Spain’s Balearic Islands. The U.S. singer filmed the music video for her song “Lifetimes” in Ibiza and Formentera, including the dune system of S’Espalmador without the necessary authorization.

The Environment Department stated the actions were an infringement as the filming could have been authorized. The dunes of S’Espalmador are ecologically valuable and part of a natural park.

Other American stars like Will Smith have also utilized Ibiza and Formentera for work. Smith recorded his latest song in Ibiza and shared the experience on Instagram.
