Recent Rocket Attacks Target Central Israeli Cities
The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) confirmed the firing of two rockets from southern Gaza on Tuesday, causing explosions in central Israeli cities. One rocket detonated off the coast of Gush Dan while the other remained in Gaza. The Al-Qassam Brigades, Hamas’ military wing, claimed responsibility for the attack, retaliating against alleged Israeli aggression.
Despite the failed attack, tensions remain high as a planned summit on negotiating a hostage deal and ceasefire with Hamas approaches. Hamas, however, declined to attend the meeting organized by mediators in Qatar or Egypt. The Wall Street Journal reported Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar’s demand for a halt in Israeli military operation before participating in negotiations.
The attack marked the latest in a series of hostilities, the most recent on May 26, which caused injuries and damage in central Israel. With ongoing threats and challenges, reaching a peaceful resolution remains a top priority for all parties involved.
