A Florida man, Kenneth Pinkney, has been sentenced to three years in federal prison for a hate-fueled attack on a Muslim postal carrier. Pinkney, 47, of Fort Lauderdale, was convicted for assaulting the carrier on Oct. 24, 2023, while she was on her delivery route.
During the attack, Pinkney harassed the postal carrier, making threatening gestures and using derogatory remarks such as “go back to your country.” He also physically assaulted her and forcibly removed her hijab. Despite suffering pain and scratches, the victim managed to escape and report the incident.
Authorities were able to apprehend Pinkney after he left behind evidence of the attack. He has been sentenced to serve thirty-seven months in prison, followed by three years of supervised release. This case serves as a reminder of the importance of standing against hatred and discrimination in our communities.
