The EU’s top diplomat is considering sanctions in response to Israel’s national security minister’s call to cut aid to Gaza, deeming it as “incitement to war crimes.” Josep Borrell stated that sanctions should be a part of the EU’s agenda.
Itamar Ben-Gvir, the Israeli minister, suggested blocking aid and fuel to Gaza until all hostages are released, advocating for a reoccupation of Gaza and the migration of Palestinians. Borrell urged Israel to distance itself from calls to commit war crimes and engage in cease-fire talks.
The US, Qatar, and Egypt are mediating cease-fire negotiations, while expressing concern over civilian casualties and aid restrictions. Despite this, Western allies continue supporting Israel’s offensive.
The situation remains tense as conflicting views on aid and military actions fuel the ongoing conflict in the region.
