Egypt refuses Israel’s request to accept Gaza residents

Israel is facing criticism after its request for Egypt to take in displaced Gaza Strip refugees was turned down. The Israeli media revealed that Israel had asked Egypt to settle tens of thousands of Gaza residents on Egyptian territory for a limited period to eliminate armed organizations in the region, but Egypt firmly rejected the idea.

Egypt’s rejection of the proposal was met with strong criticism from the Israeli news website Srugim. Egypt’s Chairman of the State Information Service, Diaa Rashwan, had previously stated that the forced displacement of Palestinians is a red line for Egypt, as it threatens Egyptian sovereignty and national security.

Rashwan emphasized that Egypt is committed to its stance against forced displacement and will not entertain any actions that go against it. Egypt’s clear and unwavering position on this issue sends a message that Cairo will not participate in any actions that compromise the rights and safety of Palestinians.
