The Association of Senior Civil Servants of Nigeria (ASCSN) has declared its intention to disrupt daily operations in states that are not complying with the N70,000 new national minimum wage for workers. President of the Association, Shehu Muhammed, emphasized this stance during the association’s 5th Quadrennial Delegates Conference in Lagos.
Muhammed highlighted the importance of implementing the new wage to enhance the standard of living of citizens, especially with the increased revenue allocation to state governments from the Federal Account Allocation Committee (FAAC). He stressed the need for states to eliminate financial inefficiencies and align income with inflation rates.
The Secretary General, Joshua Apebo, reiterated the call for state governments to prioritize the welfare of their workers by promptly implementing the new minimum wage. In support, President of the Trade Union Congress of Nigeria (TUC), Festus Osifo, pledged assistance to ensure the protection of workers’ interests under the new leadership.
