Ben Gvir: Jewish Prayer Allowed at Al-Aqsa Mosque in Raid.

Israeli Ministers lead a large raid at Al-Aqsa Mosque, allowing Jewish prayer and violating long-standing arrangements. The National Security Minister stated their policy is to enable Jewish prayer at the Temple Mount, known as Al-Aqsa Mosque to Jews. Despite the status quo permitting only Muslim worship, Israeli settlers and ultra-nationalists have stormed the site under armed protection, often removing Muslim worshippers forcefully.

Israeli police have been accused of allowing Jewish prayers, sparking condemnation from Palestinians who accuse Israel of undermining the mosque’s Islamic identity. ‘Temple Mount groups’ advocate for increased Jewish presence and the destruction of the mosque for a Third Temple.

More than 2,250 people participated in the latest raid, coinciding with Tisha B’Av. The Palestinian Authority and Jordan condemned the raid as a violation of international law. While Israeli officials maintain commitment to the status quo, the raid drew criticism and opposition.

The Minister’s comments on enabling Jewish prayer have stirred controversy, with opposition leaders and coalition partners expressing concerns about endangering lives and violating the status quo. Despite the violations, no arrests have been made by Israeli police.
