AAP leader Sanjay Singh criticised Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the Sebi-Hindenburg row, stating that a joint parliamentary committee should investigate. He warned that failure to do so will make people believe ‘chowkidar chor hai’ (the watchman is the thief), referring to BJP’s ‘main bhi chowkidar’ slogan during the 2019 elections.
Singh accused Modi of appointing Sebi chief Madhavi Buch, who allegedly invests in shady offshore funds, including those linked to Adani’s company in India. The Opposition has demanded a JPC probe, while the ruling party dismissed it as a ploy to harm the economy.
Despite opposition claims, the Indian stock market remained stable, with allegations of billionaire George Soros trying to destabilize the economy. Hindenburg Research accused Buch of involvement in the “Adani money siphoning scandal,” prompting her to confirm her investments in offshore funds.
