YLE poll: Finland’s top 3 parties see gains

The Social Democratic Party has seen an increase in support, halting the previous decline, according to a recent opinion poll conducted for YLE by Taloustutkimus. Despite remaining four points lower than in May, the party’s popularity has increased by 0.3 percentage points to 20.4% since early July.

With the National Coalition and Finns Party also experiencing slight upticks in support, the balance of power between the three largest parties remains unchanged. Tuomo Turja, the research director at Taloustutkimus, noted that the results are typical for a summer poll, with all parties staying within the margin of error.

Following the passing of the controversial border security act, voters reacted with the Social Democrats facing their worst week during the polling period. The Green League, on the other hand, saw an increase in popularity after voting against the act.

Overall, the political landscape in Finland seems to be shifting, with opposition parties gaining ground and the ruling coalition maintaining a steady level of support.
