Shaibu caught impersonating deputy governor, claims Edo govt

The Edo State Government recently addressed the issue of Philip Shaibu falsely presenting himself as the deputy governor of the state. Despite a Federal High Court ruling reinstating him as deputy governor, the Edo Assembly has filed for an appeal and a stay of execution.

In response to Shaibu’s continued impersonation, the Commissioner for Communication and Orientation, Chris Nehikhare, emphasized that Shaibu is not the current Deputy Governor of Edo State. The government also highlighted that the legal battle over Shaibu’s reinstatement is ongoing, with the next hearing scheduled for September 24, 2024.

The government has urged organizations to disregard any correspondence from Shaibu claiming the deputy governor title, as it is considered an act of impersonation. Concerns have been raised about potential security breaches due to Shaibu’s actions, and security agencies have been put on alert.
