Netanyahu’s office accuses Gallant of adopting ‘anti-Israel narrative’

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office has publicly criticized Defence Minister Yoav Gallant for adopting what they termed as an “anti-Israel narrative”. Gallant’s remarks during a parliamentary session questioned the lack of a broader war with Lebanon, stating that the current conditions did not warrant such action, leading to tensions between the two officials.

Netanyahu’s office accused Gallant of hindering efforts to negotiate the release of hostages by siding with Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar. They emphasized the need for a decisive victory to eliminate Hamas’ capabilities and secure the release of hostages. This clash between Netanyahu and Gallant is not the first, as previous conflicts over issues like mandatory military service for ultra-Orthodox communities have strained their relationship.

Meanwhile, the International Criminal Court’s prosecutor is seeking arrest warrants for both men for alleged war crimes during Israel’s conflict with Gaza. The escalating violence has resulted in a significant number of Palestinian casualties, highlighting the urgent need for a peaceful resolution to the ongoing conflict.
